Our Mission
The Warriors Tennis Training Center (WTTC) aims to make tennis more accessible and inclusive, especially for underserved communities in Hawai‘i. By engaging both youth and adults, including those of Native Hawaiian ancestry, WTTC fosters physical health, community well-being, and greater access to the sport across generations—breaking down barriers that have historically limited participation.

The Warriors Tennis Training Center is a dedicated team of tennis professionals united by a passion for coaching and a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive community. We strive to inspire growth, innovation, and a strong sense of belonging through the sport of tennis.

Coach
Chanon Alcon
Coach Chanon is a dedicated and accomplished tennis professional with a strong background in both competitive play and player development. A graduate of the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, he was a nationally ranked junior player and competed at the #1 singles and doubles positions for the NCAA Division I Warriors.
With extensive coaching experience, Coach Chanon has trained top-ranked junior athletes at both national and international levels, as well as Division I collegiate players. He was instrumental in helping the Warriors achieve their historic conference team championships. As the former Director of Tennis and Head Coach for both the boys’ and girls’ teams at Mid-Pacific Institute, he led multiple athletes to ILH and HHSAA State Championship titles.
Currently serving as the Director of Tennis for his alma mater, Kamehameha Schools Warriors Tennis Program, Coach Chanon remains committed to helping each student-athlete grow, both on and off the court. His coaching philosophy emphasizes discipline, confidence-building, and a positive mindset, empowering athletes to reach their full potential and strive for excellence.

Carolyn Katayama
Coach Carolyn is a cornerstone of the tennis coaching community in Hawai‘i. A former junior player from the islands, she went on to compete at the Division I level for the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa as a member of the Warriors tennis team.
Her coaching career began with great success as Head Coach of the Punahou Girls Varsity Tennis team, where she led the team to multiple ILH and HHSAA individual and team championships.
She later served as Head Coach at both Hawai‘i Pacific University and her alma mater, the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.
Currently, Coach Carolyn is the Assistant Girls' Tennis Coach and Program Head for the Elementary Tennis Development Program at Kamehameha Schools. She is passionate about working with students of all skill levels, helping them build strong tennis fundamentals while fostering a fun and engaging environment to enjoy this lifelong sport.

Coach
Brad Uy
Coach Brad is both faculty and assistant tennis coach at Kamehameha Schools Kapālama. He teaches 8th grade math by day, and is the Assistant Boys’ Tennis Coach by night. He derives great happiness and fulfillment from contributing to a thriving lāhui by bolstering academic and athletic success.
Coach Brad is a graduate of Williams College and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and was an Academic All-American playing Division I college squash. Coach Brad competes regularly in USTA league, and is an avid recreational player who has won multiple national tennis championships.
His coaching philosophy is to play with joy and hustle, and to learn lessons to improve, win or lose. He strives to impart the love of tennis to all the players he coaches, not only emphasizing competitional excellence, but good character and mental strength as well.

Joël Kusnierz
Coach Joël is a Graduate of Saint Mary's College of California, in Moraga, California, where he competed at the #1 singles and doubles positions for the NCAA Division I Gaels. Throughout his career, he achieved a career-high national ranking of No. 62, marking a historic milestone for Gaels tennis.
Coach Joël has mentored top tennis athletes at the national, international, and Division I collegiate levels, including Cici Bellis, who held the No. 1 world ranking in the under-14 division. As a developmental coach at the prestigious California Tennis Club in San Francisco, he guided players aged 8 to 18 in their preparation for collegiate tennis.
Additionally, Coach Joël served as the Head Coach at the University of Hawaii, where he coached local standout Andre Ilagan to a national ranking of No. 11, back-to-back NCAA appearances, and making the sweet 16 in his final year.
Currently, Coach Joël is the Head Coach and Program Head for Boys' Tennis at Kamehameha Schools. He is dedicated to inspiring students to become true students of the game, using the process of mastering tennis to help them grow into the best versions of themselves.

Grant Migita
Coach Grant is a respected junior development coach in the Hawaii tennis community, known for his commitment to nurturing young talent. A former junior competitor in the Hawaii Pacific Section, he remains active in the sport through local USTA adult leagues and national-level events. Over the years, Coach Grant has worked with many of Hawaii’s top junior players, including helping one student-athlete achieve the #1 ranking in the state and a national ranking of #39.
As a student-athlete at Mid-Pacific Institute, Coach Grant earned 2nd Team ILH honors and an All-State Honorable Mention. He later returned to his alma mater as the Boys’ Varsity Assistant Tennis Coach, contributing to a 2nd place finish at the HHSAA State Championship. He also led the Intermediate Girls’ Team to an ILH Championship title, securing impressive wins over powerhouse programs Punahou and Iolani.
Coach Grant currently serves as the Head Coach and Program Head for Girls' Tennis at Kamehameha Schools. He remains passionate about the game and is driven to share his knowledge with student-athletes who are eager to learn, strive for excellence, and are committed to personal growth.
